Code of Conduct
We are committed to making our events safe, respectful, and inclusive.
Our events draw a wide variety of attendees with different identities, views and experiences so it is important that everyone has a common understanding of appropriate behavior. We require all attendees of our events to follow this Code of Conduct.
Respectful Communication
Use the names and pronouns that others have asked you to use for them.
Friendly constructive discussion is welcomed but personal insults and demeaning or argumentative comments are not acceptable.
Consent
Everyone has the right to say no to any activity at any stage. This includes saying no to participation in activities, discussions, or disclosing personal information.
If someone asks you to leave them alone, do so.
Equality and Diversity
We won’t tolerate racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ableism, xenophobia or any form of discrimination.
Be respectful of people’s identities, names and pronouns.
Avoid negative comments, assumptions and stereotyping of people based on their gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, nationality, class, disability, religion, beliefs, age, body size, accent or culture.
Confidentiality
Keep personal information shared at our events about others private, and only share it if they have given you permission.
Ensure you have permission from everyone whose face may be visible before taking a photograph or starting audio or film recording (if you believe someone has photographed or recorded you without your permission, please contact us for assistance).
We will not publish or share information, photographs or recordings which may identify attendees without their permission.
General Behavior
Attendees may leave a session or event at any time without explanation.
Shouting, swearing, harassing, threatening or humiliating behavior (verbal, physical or sexual) towards others is unacceptable.
Accommodations & Accessibility
We aim to be accessible and welcoming to everyone, whatever their access needs. Taking care to create an accessible event benefits not only individuals with visible or known disabilities, but also helps to ensure that all attendees, including individuals with non-obvious disabilities and/or chronic health conditions, and people of all ages and body types, are able to fully engage in the event.
The locations we typically host events at, The Art Lounge in Anchorage and The Art Cafe in Palmer, are wheelchair accessible. If we do host events at other locations we will ensure they also are.
Please reach out to us regarding any accommodations (wheelchair access, lactation area, large print handouts, bathroom aids, seating aids, etc)
